Benjamin Stambouli is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will get the better of Newcastle United in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli seems to be confident of reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup.

The Premier League outfit book their place in the fifth round of the competition with a 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.

Second-half goals from Erik Lamela and Harry Kane proved to be enough for Spurs to register a victory over Championship club Brighton at White Hart Lane.

Stambouli, who joined Tottenham from Montpellier on transfer deadline day, played the entire 90 minutes of the encounter and was delighted with his team’s performance.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has also expressed his confidence that Spurs will get the better of Newcastle United at White Hart Lane in the quarter-finals in December.

Newcastle booked a place in the fifth round of the League Cup on Wednesday, getting the better of holders Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to goals from Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko.
