Kieran Gibbs is a big doubt for the game with Burnley early Saturday.
With that in mind Arsene Wenger gave his usual Thursday injury and fitness update to the Arsenal website today - where he revealed, as usual, both good and bad news.
The good news is the return to fitness of Yaya Sanogo. He has been in first-team training recently and the Frenchman may be about this weekend to help ease the burden on the likes of Danny Welbeck in the absence of Olivier Giroud.
However, apart from that he just ruled out and questioned the potential appearance of three players for the weekend game.
The players in question are Serge Gnabry, Abou Diaby and Kieran Gibbs.
Gnabry is still on his way back from a knee injury suffered in March. He scored in an under-21 game at the weekend but is clearly not ready for the Arsenal first-team.
Diaby has been out of action for an eternity and every time he looks like coming back, he is back on the treatment table. But Gibbs is the name that will worry Arsenal fans. He has been in terrific form recently and Wenger will not want to do without a player performing at the top.
But Wenger admits it is a waiting game on the England international. He said to Arsenal.com:
"There are a few uncertainties, like Kieran Gibbs. But we’ll know more tomorrow. Apart from that everyone should be available. Wilshere is back from suspension. We have no other injuries and no one else coming back into the squad. [On Gibbs]It is a hip problem. He came off at Sunderland with 20 minutes to go. He is a doubt but we’ll know more tomorrow."
Arsenal are already without Mathieu Debuchy and Laurent Koscielny from squad, so Arsenal fans will hope their defence is not diluted any more than it already is.
