All the latest morning news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium.

Pedro has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Barcelona - as Arsenal pick up their interest in the Spanish international.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Barca with Arsenal one of a number of teams he is believed to be open to joining.

However, with the threat of a transfer embargo still hanging over them, Barca are unlikely to sell.

Mikel Arteta has become the latest Arsenal player to wax lyrical over the performances of summer signing and double Player of the Month Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean, who cost £32 million from Barcelona in the summer, has been excellent in recent weeks - including at the weekend when he scored a double against Sunderland in a 2-0 victory.

And Arteta said of the forward:

"Both goals [at Sunderland] came as a result of our hard work. You can force mistakes when you chase people and put them in trouble. You do that again, again and again, and the opposition will make mistakes. That’s what we need and now we have people up front with the knife in their teeth who want to go for it, so we have to make the most of it. The more we do it, the more we will improve.

"Alexis closed Sunderland down really well. His desire and his commitment, in addition to the way he wants to train and improve himself, is spot on. Alexis is one of the best. He’s very committed. Even in recovery sessions he wants to go outside and train to keep improving."

There are rumours doing the rounds this morning that Alexis Sanchez is unhappy at Arsenal after falling out with Mesut Ozil.

The reports are believed to emanate from a Chilean newspaper, but Arsenal fans should not fear.

It would appear mistranslation is the problem here - and there is nothing to suggest Alexis Sanchez is unhappy at Arsenal.

Finally and the Portuguese press are continuing rumours on Arsenal's interest in Cedric Soares. The Sporting Lisbon right-back has been linked with a move to Arsenal to reinforce their back-line.

Soares has a £30 million release clause but Record report that he is likely to be available for around £8 million.
