A round up of news stories and transfer rumours about Tottenham Hotspur from the past 24 hours.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Naughton is set to return from injury in the League Cup game against Brighton this evening. The right-back has been out of action with an ankle problem but this is a good opportunity for him to come into the side and gain some match fitness.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm says it’s an advantage for the club to play at home against Brighton in the League Cup this evening.

“We saw against Forest that it is not easy but it is an advantage to play at home, especially against teams from outside the Premier League,” he told the Tottenham website.

Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Georginio Wijnaldum has confirmed he is ready to take the next step and leave PSV Eindhoven.

“Next summer would be a great time to take the next step,” he’s quoted by De Telegraaf as reported by talkSPORT.

PSV Eindhoven have confirmed that they rejected a summer transfer offer for Tottenham Hotspur linked Memphis Depay. Toon Gebrands, PSV’s General Manager, says his side knocked back an offer but he refused to name who the bid was from.

Mauricio Pochettino has said the pitch at Tottenham’s White Hart Lane stadium is too small for the style of play he wants the team to use.

“Our style means we need a bigger space to play because we play a positional game. It's true that White Hart Lane is a little bit tight and it's better for the opponent when they play deep,” said the boss.

The boss has also said that he doesn’t want the experience of the home defeat against Newcastle to happen again. Spurs went to sleep during the game, allowing Newcastle back into the match after half-time.

“We had a lack of concentration after half-time and lost a goal after five seconds. That cannot happen again,” said the Argentine.
