Manchester City need to get back on track this week after their shock defeat to West Ham United last weekend left them six points behind leaders Chelsea.
However, their plans have already been dented during tonight's Capital One Cup tie with Newcastle United.
Key playmaker David Silva was substituted after just eight minutes against the Magpies after suffering a knee injury in a clash with Newcastle right back Ryan Taylor.
Silva, who scored against West Ham last weekend, was stretchered off the pitch, and his anguish was clear to see as his participation in the Manchester derby was thrown into doubt.
With Samir Nasri only just returning, losing another playmaker would be a big blow to City's hopes of beating their fierce rivals on Sunday afternoon.
City will no doubt be monitoring the Spaniard's fitness in the coming days, but Louis van Gaal may be able to start planning for a Silva-less City team.
