Paul Walsh has admitted he rushed to judgement over Southampton's Graziano Pelle.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Paul Walsh has admitted he rushed to judgement over Graziano Pelle.

The summer signing has dazzled for the high-flying Saints this season, even earning a call-up to the Italian national side.

Walsh told Sky Sports last night that after the first game of the season, when Southampton drew with Liverpool at Anfield, he wrote the striker off.

"Pelle when I saw him on the first day of of the season at Anfield, I thought he was a bit of a donkey.

"There wasn't a lot in his game I saw, he didn't move around too well, didn't get hold of the ball, but it's confidence.

"He scores a few goals, scores a few unbelievable goals, and it looks like he is going to score every time he plays."

The statistics for Pelle's first Premier League game, illustrate his failure to land any shots on target or make a telling contribution to the match.

His figures since then have been highly impressive, with six goals in eight Premier League matches, one of the league's most prolific goalscorers early on, and if he can continue his form, he may fancy his chances of getting near the 20 goal mark.
