Everton's Capital One Cup exit to Swansea City in the last round means that the Toffees have the midweek period off, leaving them refreshed for this weekend's clash against the Swans again.

Left back Bryan Oviedo is one player who could benefit from that extra time off given that he's just rehabilitated from a knee injury, and the Costa Rican admits that he is feeling much fitter.

"I feel very well, much better right now after I’ve had the screws taken out," he said. "It’s fantastic because before they stopped me when I ran - but now I feel much better and I hope to be ready for the next games. Sometimes it’s difficult when you come back from a long injury but at the moment I feel very good and I hope to play as quickly as possible."

Elsewhere, the Toffees have recalled striker Hallam Hope from his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday. The 20-year-old played just four times for the Owls during his time at Hillsborough, but with the likes of Stevie May, Atdhe Nuhiu and Gary Madine in the ranks, Everton felt it was best that they recalled Hope to either loan him out again or keep him playing in their reserves.

Finally, with the January transfer window fast approaching, reports in France suggest that Everton boss Roberto Martinez sent scouts to France to watch Rennes forward Paul-Georges Ntep.

The 22-year-old has been linked with Arsenal for some time, but with the Gunners having Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck in the ranks, they seem to have cooled their interest in him - and whilst Everton may believe that they can land the talented winger, Chelsea are also reportedly interested.
