EA gives Star Wars: Battlefront a holiday 2015 launch window

Star Wars Battlefront

The release of DICE’s new Star Wars themed shooter to fall in line with the Star Wars: Episode VII movie.

A recent report to investors from Electronic Arts gives a due date of Star Wars: Battlefront during the 2015 holiday season.

Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO announced the launch window for Battlefront in the call to investors stating it will be the publisher’s “major first-person shooter” for 2015.

Battlefront had been expected to launch in the summer next year alongside the new Star Wars movie. With JJ Abram’s Episode VII now coming in December 2015 it comes as little surprise that Battlefront’s release coincides with this date, although the game is not to be a straight movie tie-in, rather a reboot of the Star Wars: Battlefront series.

At E3 this year EA and DICE showed off some of the game’s playable maps including the frozen wastes of Hoth and the lush forest moon of Endor.

In the same investor report it was also revealed that Battlefield Hardline has been slated to release on 17th March in North America and 19th March in Europe.

Star Wars: Battlefront is to be a new-gen experience when it arrives, being only available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
