CONFIRMED: Manchester City v Newcastle United line-ups - Armstrong leads Toon attack!

Man City Etihad

Here are the sides as Manchester City host Newcastle United in the League Cup this evening.

Manchester City: Caballero, Sagna, Demichelis, Mangala, Kolarov, Milner, Toure, Fernandinho, Silva, Jovetic, Dzeko

Subs: Hart, Boyata, Zabaleta, Nasri, Fernando, Navas, Aguero

Newcastle United: Elliot; Janmaat, Coloccini (c), Dummett, Haïdara; R.Taylor, Abeid, Colback; Obertan, Armstrong, Aarons

Subs: Krul, Sissoko, Ameobi, Cabella, Gouffran, Riviere, Perez

Manchester City head into this game as the favourites although Newcastle United come off the back of a more positive result.

City were outplayed by West Ham United last weekend while Newcastle secured a much needed win away at Tottenham.

Both teams are likely to rotate and make changes, which present fringe and younger players with a chance to step into the team and impress.

Manchester City will be confident because they produced a massive 7-0 win the last round against Sheffield Wednesday, another established and experienced Championship team.

City are always extremely difficult to beat at the Etihad Stadium though Newcastle are always well supported away from home and that could be a factor this evening.

Newcastle face another game against a Premier League opponent after they battled to a 3-2 win away at Crystal Palace in their last game.
