The Blues' fan base have generally been very encouraged by the return of their former defender as manager.
So Gary Rowett's return to St Andrews is official.
The 40-year-old left Burton Albion two days ago to manage the club he used to play for: Birmingham.
"It is an honour and privilege to be the manager of Birmingham City," Rowett told his new club's official wesbite. "This is a fantastic opportunity and an exciting challenge that I'm ready for. Having spent time here as a player, I know what this club is all about and what the supporters expect from their team.
"The biggest thing for me is that I can still remember the moment the hairs stood up on the back of my neck when we played Watford in the play-off semi-final [in 1999]. Even an hour before kick-off, the Blues fans generated the most incredible atmosphere inside St. Andrew's and that's something that I want to help to bring back.
"Even if we can recreate a little bit of that famous atmosphere then we'll be on the right track."
Rowett was speaking ahead of a home tie against Watford, although the Blues will first travel to local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend in the former Burton boss's opening Championship game in charge.
But how have Birmingham fans reacted to Rowett's appointment, then?
Well, it's a case of so far, so good for the 40-year-old, with supporters being delighted by his initial appointment and his comments after taking the job on. Here are the best reactions on Twitter!

Really encouraged by the way Gary Rowett has spoken today. A long road ahead but looks to be exactly the type of manager Blues need #bcfc— Daniel Orme (@TheOrmerod) October 28, 2014
