Vidic set for Inter return, but pressure is rising

Nemanja Vidic is expected to return to Inter's starting line-up to face Sampdoria tomorrow night, but he is under pressure to perform.

Nemanja Vidic has looked a shadow of himself at Inter so far and he needs to up his game when the Nerazzurri host Sampdoria.

The Serbian international arrived as a free agent in the summer when his contract at Manchester United expired and he was seen as a big coup.

However, Vidic has made some costly errors in an Inter shirt and there are doubts as to whether he should be a regular starter at all.

Vidic has admitted that he is still adapting to Inter's three-man defence, but he needs to deliver soon or he faces some bench time.

After sitting out a clean sheet win over Cesena, Vidic will probably marshall the back line against Sampdoria with Andrea Ranocchia and Juan Jesus for company.

But Hugo Campagnaro played well against Cesena and the Italian media are beginning to state that Vidic's name may no longer be guaranteed on the team sheet.

Sampdoria are sitting third and drew 0-0 with Roma last weekend, but they have only scored nine times all season and owe their success mostly to a solid defence.
