Tottenham receive injury boost with defender's return to the squad

Kyle Naughton has returned to Tottenham's squad ahead of the League Cup tie with Brighton in the League Cup tomorrow evening.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Naughton has returned to the squad for tomorrow's League Cup tie against Brighton after an ankle injury, Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.

The Tottenham right-back picked up an injury in the 1-0 win against Southampton at the start of the month, with some initially fearing he could be out for up to three months.

But it's a welcome boost for Spurs, who are still without Kyle Walker who is recovering from a long-term pelvis injury but Federico Fazio returns to the squad after a one-match ban for his sending off in the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Pochettino told reporters: “Federico and Kyle are back, which is good news for the team.”

Nabil Bentaleb is still sidelined with an ankle injury.

Spurs are looking to put their disappointing defeat to Newcastle United at the weekend behind them by progressing against Sami Hyypia's struggling Championship side.

Pochettino has said he would like to bring silverware to White Hart Lane, with some reports suggesting within two years, and getting to the last eight of the League Cup would provide his side with a decent opportunity of lifting the side's first piece of silverware since 2008 - and the first under his reign.
