Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Pochettino 'will ask' for £15m striker, Kaboul's plea

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino will ask Daniel Levy to sanction a move for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez according to the Telegraph.

The report claims that the reason Spurs didn’t move for current Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is because of their interest in the Saints star.

“Mauricio Pochettino will ask Daniel Levy, the Tottenham Hotspur chairman, to make a new move for the Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez in the January transfer window,” reports the Telegraph.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Younes Kaboul says the side have to be braver and more focused after the defeat to Newcastle United.

It was Tottenham’s third defeat after a Europa League group game this season.

“We have to be braver and more focused. At this level there is no mercy. If you're not focused, brave and ready, you pay the price,” said the Frenchman.

The Daily Star is claiming that Liverpool have made reported Tottenham target Saido Berahino their top winter transfer priority.

Spurs have been linked with a big money move for the England under-21 star who is one of the top scorers in the Premier League this season.

“There's a bit of time to go between now and then, but if he continues to do what he is doing other clubs will come in and test the water,” said West Brom boss Alan Irvine.
