The weekend’s Premier League action is over, the squads for the next international break are starting to be announced and the focus switches to the League Cup this evening, as youngsters prepare for first team chances at huge clubs.
The transfer rumour mill also continues to produce some exciting transfer links and updates on a daily basis, which keep fans on the edge of their seats as a busy winter period looms.
We’ve decided to take a look back at the stories making the headlines on this day last year.
‘Gnabry agrees new contract’
Young German winger Serge Gnabry agreed a new long term deal with Arsenal.
Gnabry made an impact in the Arsenal first team but has since lost his place in Arsene Wenger’s side.
“We signed Serge Gnabry because I believe that he will be a great player. He's nearly there now, and competes for a regular place in the team in the Premier League,” Arsene Wenger told the Arsenal website.
‘Walker agrees new contract’
Tottenham Hotspur announced that right-back Kyle Walker had agreed a new contract with the club.
Walker was one of the best full-backs in the Premier League last season but he’s struggled with injury in the current campaign.
He extended his deal until 2019 after making more appearances than any of his teammates during the 2012/2013 campaign.
‘Blackstock’s message for Leeds’
On loan Leeds United striker Dexter Blackstock urged his temporary club to keep believing despite defeat to Huddersfield Town.
The Whites lost 3-2 as Blackstock scored on his debut for the club.
“If you score two goals away from home, nine times out of 10 you get a point. We came away with nothing and it’s a bitter pill to swallow but there were some good performances in a new formation. It’ll take time to bed in and it’s part of the learning curve,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
