Chelsea academy superstar Lewis Baker could feature prominently in the club's League Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup later this evening, Tuesday.
Manager Jose Mourinho has long spoken highly of Baker, a 19-year-old Luton-born midfielder who has already been capped at various youth levels with England.
And, earlier this year, even claimed that if the player was not an England regular in the near future then he himself would take the blame.
"He has a chance to play," hinted Mourinho to the club's official website when discussing Baker's chances of competitive football at Greenhous Meadow. "I don’t know if he will start," he added.
Mourinho continued: "He has a long way to go but he has the potential. That is why he is a Chelsea first team player. We are sure that he will be a good player."
Baker has already played thrice in the Under 21 Premier League this season and has scored one goal.
