Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will shuffle his deck ahead of the trip to Shrewsbury Town this evening.
Because of the energy-sapping battle with Manchester United at Old Trafford, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he has been forced to rotate his squad in order to ensure his starting XI are fresh for the League Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town at Greenhous Meadow this evening, Tuesday.
Mourinho will therefore field the following players - Andre Schurrle, Mohamed Salah, Kurt Zouma, Nathan Ake and John Obi Mikel - as well as some other stars who featured last weekend.
"We are in a difficult situation because of the Man United game on Sunday," Mourinho told the club's official website.
"We’ve only had one day to prepare but when you look at the players who didn’t play – Schurrle, Salah, Zouma, Ake, Mikel – these boys are obviously going to have to play. After that I have to play with players that played the game against Man United."
Shrewsbury Town are the lowest ranked team remaining in the Capital One Cup, but are on hot form as they have won four in a row.
To get to this stage of the tournament, the Shrews have had to compete against teams in higher divisions than themselves - yet have prevailed on each of the previous occasions, all by a 1-0 score.
"We know we have a difficult match because they are doing very well in their league and they have done very well against superior teams in the Capital One Cup," said Mourinho, in recognition. "It’s a big day for them. We know it will be difficult for us but that’s football.
"Every game is important. Shrewsbury in the Capital One Cup is not a friendly. We have to play matches with respect and the best way to respect Shrewsbury is to go there with a good team, not to go there with a weak team and lose.
"We will go there with a good team. If they win they win, but they win against a good team."
