Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has revealed what he and his teammates discussed in the dressing room following the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
The Red Devils had to stage a comeback to pick up a point from the Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Didier Drogba gave Chelsea the lead in the 53rd minute, but former Arsenal defender Robin van Persie popped up in injury time to score the equaliser against their 10-man London rivals.
Shaw, who played for the entire 90 minutes, has admitted that the players were disappointed not to have picked up all three points.
‘We spoke in the dressing room and we knew we could have got three points with the chances we had and maybe we could have done a bit better on their goal’, United’s official website quotes the 19-year-old left-back as saying. ‘But that's football at the end of the day’.
United did indeed have chances as they pressed on in the second half after Chelsea had gone defensive following their goal. However, Louis van Gaal’s side failed to take their chances.
Much of that has to do with the brilliant goalkeeping from Thibaut Courtois, but the United players could have done better with their shots.
A 1-1 draw was probably a fair reflection of the game, leaving Van Gaal and his players much to ponder on.
