Manchester City's title defence has got off to a shaky start, with shock defeats to Stoke City and West Ham United leaving Manuel Pellegrini's side six points behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
City need a reaction to Saturday's disappointing 2-1 defeat to West Ham, and there is no better game to do it in than Sunday's monumental Manchester derby against Manchester United.
The Red Devils will make the trip to the Etihad Stadium in high spirits having rescued a late point against Chelsea, and with some issues in attack for City, some may be predicting a shock United win.
However, Pellegrini has been handed a huge boost just days before the big clash, with former Arsenal star Samir Nasri set to return.
"Samir Nasri is working normally and is on the squad list for tomorrow," Pellegrini confirmed ahead of City's Capital One Cup tie with Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Nasri, 27, has been out of action for around a month now, and his absence has been key to City's recent shakiness, including the Champions League draw with CSKA Moscow.
This season, it's been clearer than ever that David Silva plays better when he plays as a No. 10, and Pellegrini allowed him to do that against West Ham, where the Spaniard took over the game by scoring a stunning goal.
Yet Nasri's injury has forced Silva to play on the left hand side, restricting his influence on the game. With Nasri back in the fold, Pellegrini is now able to use the incisive Frenchman from the left hand side, with Silva behind Sergio Aguero and Jesus Navas providing pace down the right, or James Milner for added defensive protection.
City will be desperate to prove that they are still the team to beat in the Premier League this season, and should Pellegrini deem Nasri fit enough to start against United, then they may have the perfect system to beat their fierce rivals.
