Liverpool summer signing Lazar Markovic believes that the team can use their upcoming games to work on their composure, confidence and consistency.
The Reds take on Swansea City in League Cup action tonight, before facing Newcastle United in the Premier League at the weekend and Markovic wants the side to use both games as opportunities to develop in areas they have not performed well in so far.
The club have struggled over the opening course of the season, but the former Benfica star believes that the next two games can help them get back on track.
"It's evident we haven't been consistent up to now, but I feel that our up and coming games are an opportunity for us to gain composure, confidence and consistency," Markovic said to Liverpool's official site.
The Capital One Cup is generally a competition not given too much precedence by sides competing for the Champions League spots, but Liverpool can ill-afford a slip-up tonight.
Morale and confidence is already low at Anfield and another defeat would be a further set-back in what has been a difficult start to the season.
Markovic, himself, needs to start improving soon.
The Serbian may only be young, but the club invested a lot of money to sign him over the summer and his form so far has not been good enough to repay the price-tag.
He is likely to start tonight against Swansea and the 20-year-old says that he is looking forward to the opportunity.
"I have to play well and in doing so earn a place in the team - and hopefully the Swansea game is an opportunity for me to show what I can do," he said.
"My targets and ambitions for this season haven't changed since I joined the club, and I still have the same drive and motivation.
"Swansea are a good team. I've watched them a few times. It is going to be a difficult game but I am confident we can get the win.
