Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has played down the favourites tag, which his side undoubtedly are, heading into the League Cup game against Shrewsbury Town.
It’s a classic League Cup tie between one of the best sides in England and Europe and a side lower down the Football League ladder, looking to cause a big upset.
“I have only one day, we travel to London and we are travelling to Shrewsbury. We are in trouble because we have so many injured players,” said Mourinho.
This is an opportunity for Chelsea’s younger players to get stuck in against a physical team and impress the boss.
The match won’t do much in terms of shaping the way Mourinho sets up his Premier League team, but the substantial number of injuries guarantee chances for younger players and they have to take advantage.
