Arsenal morning news: Bakkali refusing new contract, why Marseille could sell Gignac

A round up of news stories this morning about Arsenal.

Arsenal linked Zakaria Bakkali has turned down a new contract with PSV Eindhoven according to reports.

He is refusing to sign renewed terms due to his current status in the team according to the Express.

Arsenal are one of several Premier League sides to have been linked with making a move for him.

Marseille have admitted there is a strong chance Andre-Pierre Gignac will leave the club.

The Mirror has suggested Arsenal are on red alert with Arsene Wenger ready to utilise his connections in France to do a deal.

“It’s going to happen because employer contributions and taxes have gone through the roof in France. We would like to keep him, but it seems to me utopian to think that he will lower his salary to stay with us,” said Marseille president Vincent Labrune.

Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini says teammate Alexis Sanchez is on a par with ex-Arsenal attackers Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie.

Sanchez has made a good start to life at the club and looks set to reach double figures in terms of goals before the end of this year.

“From what we have seen so far of him, he is right up there [with Henry and van Persie],” said Flamini.
