Arsenal are thoroughly expected to rectify their defensive woes in January having failed to replace Thomas Vermaelen this summer, with Arsene Wenger already admitting that the Gunners will add defensive reinforcements in the New Year.
According to reports today, Arsenal are once again eyeing up a move to sign Athletic Bilbao wonderkid Aymeric Laporte. The 20-year-old established himself in Ernesto Valverde's side last season, and the French youth international - who is rated at around £30m - could be back on Arsenal's radar after rumours throughout the summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has had a positive start to the season, but says that he still needs to add goals to his game, citing Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard as particular role models in that aim.
"I've said before that my goalscoring record has never been good enough and that I always want to add more goals," said Wilshere. "You look at the top midfielders in the world like Lampard and Gerrard who were getting 15 or 20 goals a season back in their day."
"I'm not saying I can get that many because they were specialists at that, but I could definitely get into double figures," he added.
Finally, Arsenal may be set for a much-needed boost in defence after Mathieu Debuchy took to Twitter to tell fans that he is on the way back to first team action.
The French right back has been sidelined for almost two months now with an ankle problem, but posted pictures of himself in the gym to show his rehabilitation.
