Another weekend of competitive football action has passed with the focus moving to the League Cup games throughout the next week.
There was drama up North with Leeds United sacking Darko Milanic after a defeat to Wolves while Manchester United grabbed a dramatic late point against Premier League leaders Chelsea.
We’ve decided to look back on this day last year to see which stories were making the headlines.
‘AVB slams Spurs fans’
Former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was angry with Tottenham Hotspur fans after the 1-0 win against Hull City.
AVB accused Spurs fans of failing to create an atmosphere, which made the match feel like an away game for his team.
“We looked like the away team. We played in a difficult atmosphere with almost no support,” said AVB.
‘Leeds United star linked with local rivals'
Aidy White was being linked with a move from Leeds United to Sheffield United.
Sheffield United boss Nigel clough confirmed that the Blades had made an enquiry to try and sign White.
He moved to Bramall Lane playing eight league games for the club in a short term deal.
‘Wenger reveals why Giroud is popular with fans’
Arsene Wenger cited Olivier Giroud’s ‘spirit’ as the reason he was so popular with Arsenal supporters.
Giroud is sometimes frustratingly inconsistent up front for Arsenal, but he retains support because of his hard work rate and team ethic.
“That is what makes him great. He missed some chances but always got the support of our fans because he shows he is ready for a fight. The fact that he kept going got him a goal – I like his spirit,” he told the Arsenal website.
