PC release hinted for Sunset Overdrive, Microsoft claim it's a 'simple mistake'

Sunset Overdrive 1

An advert for the Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive stated a PC release, only to later be confirmed as a mistake by Microsoft.

An advert for Insomniac Games and Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive appeared online this weekend, and it pointed towards a PC release of the game.

The news came via NeoGAF user Lucifon, and a screenshot of the advert is below. It appeared on local newspaper website he was browsing and states that the game will be available 'only on Xbox One & PC'. Here's a link to the actual ad, although we expect it to be taken down at any moment.

Sunset Overdrive false PC advery

A tweet from Mike Ybarra (@XboxQwik) of Microsoft, regarding the advert, quickly put to bed any thoughts of the game coming to PC, with Ybarra stating 'this was a simple mistake'.

A PC release of Sunset Overdrive isn't a completely mad idea though, especially if you recognise that previous Xbox One exclusive titles have been ported to PC recently. Take a look at Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3, they came to PC this year after initially being Xbox One launch exclusives. So, it's still possible PC users could see Sunset Overdrive in the future. But for now, Microsoft just say the ad was just a 'mistake'.
