Juventus legend urges Liverpool star to work harder.
Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero has urged Mario Balotelli to follow his principles of hard work, if he is to rediscover his form.
The former Juventus star wants the under-fire striker to get back to his best, but to do so he believes he needs to get back to basics.
Presently playing in the Indian Super League, Del Piero had some words of wisdom for the £16 million Liverpool signing.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, reported by Football Italia, he said: "I don’t feel I am in any position to judge Balotelli. I hope he can rediscover himself in English football.
“If anything I can give a general overview that also applies to Mario. Between the mind and technique, the mind is more important.
“You need to send a signal to the outside that you are really involved. It’s important, as it shows you are playing with heart and giving your all, trying to do the right thing.
“You have to put yourself up for the challenge every single day. Face every training session as if it were a final."
Despite being lauded as one of the signings of the season when he arrived in the transfer window, Balotelli has been dismal since his switch.
He is yet to score a single Premier League goal, heading into November, and has been criticised by pundits and fans alike.
Against Hull at the weekend, he cut a dejected figure with his body language and could not even fall back on the pleasure of his side winning, with Hull holding the Reds to a draw.
Del Piero is right in that Balotelli has to start showing that he wants it more, and is prepared to work for the cause. Doing so can get his fans, teammates and manager onside, and begin to make his life a little easier.
