Chile international forward Sanchez joined the Gunners from Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window for a reported fee of £35 million.
The 25-year-old has been in impressive form in the Premier League so far this season and scored both goals in Arsenal’s 2-0 away victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Flamini, who returned to Arsenal in the summer of 2013, has now claimed that Sanchez is as good as Henry and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.
‘From what we have seen so far of him, he is right up there [with Henry and Van Persie]’, The Mirror quotes the Frenchman as saying. ‘He is proving it in every game he plays, not just with his goals but the way he works for the team’.
Arsenal were linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain last summer. Then at Real Madrid, the Argentina international striker was reported to be on his way to the Emirates Stadium.
However, the 26-year-old, who is now being linked with Liverpool, eventually joined Italian club Napoli. Higuain’s brother and agent, Nicolas, has revealed that Arsenal did make contact with him last summer.
‘The rumours about Arsenal and Liverpool?’ Football Italia quotes him as telling Radio CRC. ‘Gonzalo has a contract with Napoli for five seasons so he’s an Azzurro player.
'But I must say that no representatives from either club have contacted me. Shortly before he arrived in Naples, I was in contact with Arsenal’.
