Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would take taken a 1-0 win v Sunderland in Premier League

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reflects on his side’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Saturday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he would have taken a 1-0 win against Sunderland away from home in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners clinched the contest 2-0, thanks to a brace from Alexis Sanchez, but Wenger admits that he would have been happy if they had scored just once at the Stadium of Light.

‘[It was] very pleasing’, Arsenal’s official website quotes him as saying. ‘[The team was] very focused, very united, very concentrated not to make mistakes.

‘In the end we got a good win with a clean sheet on top. I'm very happy about that. It's our second away game in three days. Before the game, I would have signed for a 1-0 - it became a 2-0 very late in the game’.

It is an honest remark from Wenger, who just wanted just to win at Sunderland without thinking of the final result.

Can anyone blame him? Arsenal have struggled for points in the Premier League this season and were just back from Belgium, where they needed two late goals to defeat Anderlecht and keep their Champions League ambitions on track.
