Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela looked world class on Thursday night, but against Newcastle United on Sunday, he was average. Once again.
The Argentina international has loads of potential and is genuinely talented, but he just cannot find consistency.
On Thursday against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League Group C at White Hart Lane, the 22-year-old scored an outrageous goal that made headline news in the footballing world.
However, against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, the former AS Roma star was once underwhelming, as the stats below show.

Tottenham fans were understandably frustrated with the shift put in by Lamela as the North London outfit went down 2-1 to Newcastle.
After the match, the Spurs supporters took to social networking site Twitter to have their say on Lamela’s performance. Below are the best reactions.
Hear #Lamela had another sub-par game - Further frustration that he's not justifying the showboating displayed midweek.— Mark Beaven (@Mark_Beaven) October 26, 2014
That 5-1 win and #Lamela's goal blinded how poor we/he really are. Poch looking for guidance from above.— Geoff Snowden (@YYCHotspur) October 26, 2014
Alright scoring a worldie against Thursday night Channel 5 but you've gotta up your game against the big boys #Lamela— Toby Bilton (@toggytobes) October 26, 2014
