Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Sissoko's display against Spurs - "Immense performance!"

St James Park Two

Newcastle claimed a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon, and midfielder Moussa Sissoko was an integral part of their victory.

The pressure on Newcastle manager Alan Pardew appeared to be calming down somewhat last week, with Gabriel Obertan's goal giving the Magpies their first win of the season against Leicester City.

Today though, they faced a totally different challenge, as they went up against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in what promised to be a tough encounter for Newcastle, who are still decimated by injuries.

It looked like being another tough afternoon for Pardew after Emmanuel Adebayor headed Spurs in front in the first half, but a superb second half fightback from the Magpies secured another valuable three points.

Half time substitute Sammy Ameobi equalised just six seconds after coming on the pitch at the interval, and new signings Remy Cabella and Ayoze Perez connected to hand Newcastle the lead, with Perez directing a header past Hugo Lloris.

Despite half chances for Tottenham late on, Newcastle were resilient and hung on for the win, with midfielder Moussa Sissoko playing a key role in their unlikely victory.

The Frenchman was dominant in midfield, breaking up play, pressing opponents and providing energy throughout, and Newcastle fans were full of praise for the former Toulouse man after his exceptional performance.

Here is a selection of tweets from Newcastle fans on Sissoko's display.
