Michael Owen has backed Tottenham Hotspur to win the Premier League clash against Newcastle United at White Hart Lane today.
Owen, a former Newcastle striker, believes that the North London outfit will have just enough to pick up all three points.
‘Despite their defensive frailties I thought Spurs played well in parts at the Etihad last weekend with Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela linking well especially in the first half’, the former Manchester United and Liverpool striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
‘The Magpies badly needed their win against the Foxes last weekend and will be hard to break down but I can see the hosts’ winning this. Note: none of the last 17 meetings between the sides at White Hart Lane has ended in a draw’.
Both Spurs and Newcastle will head into the game on the back of wins, but the hosts will be favourites. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have better players and more quality, and playing at home will give them an edge.
However, Alan Pardew’s Newcastle cannot be written off just yet. Having picked up their first win of the season last weekend, the Magpies will certainly be determined to build on it today.
