So, although these are only reports at the moment, Liverpool are said to want yet another striker in January.
Fabio Borini hasn't made the cut at Anfield, while Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert just haven't scored in the absence of Daniel Sturridge. So the answer, according to the Daily Mail, is a £25 million bid for West Brom striker Saido Berahino.
The 21-year-old is the Premier League's third-best goalscorer this season (with seven league goals) and is showing plenty of promise at the Hawthorns. But Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested - and the Baggies unwilling to part with the forward for less than £25m.
Naturally, then, there has been plenty of split opinion among Liverpool fans about this one. Berahino is clearly a talent and could be just the mobile forward needed at Anfield. It would also help to steal a Spurs target... At the same time, however, he has only just burst onto the scene and 'a few goals,' as some fans put it, is nowhere near enough to justify such an inflated transfer fee.
Is Berahino the answer? And should Brendan Rodgers cut his losses with Balotelli already?
It seems there are plenty of supporters out there willing the 21-year-old on to a move to Merseyside - but he also has his fair share of critics among the Kop. Here are the best fan reactions to the reports on Twitter...
Makes runs. Berahino ticks all the FSG boxes & #LFC boxes. Balotelli, Bony & Lambert = slowest least mobile on planet. NO!!!— Brodinho (@Brodinho) October 26, 2014
Please no....not Berahino just cos of a few goals this season. Go for a proven world class striker not a good prospect this time #LFC— Chris (@chris68lfc) October 26, 2014
