Following the 26-year-old's move to the Premier League, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti claimed that the Spanish club were forced to sell their Argentine star due to his financial demands. Nonetheless, Di Maria himself has recently dismissed suggestions that his move to Old Trafford was motivated by money.
The British record signing now earns £200,000-a-week at Old Trafford and insists he could not be happier with his decision to quit the Bernabeu. Speaking to Fox Sports magazine, he revealed: “I have these amazing feelings about having moved to Man U."
“I’m so proud of myself, you know. It’s hard to explain it and put it in words. I truly wanted to move to United. I wanted to wear this shirt."

Upon arrival at Old Trafford, the Argentine international received the number seven shirt at United. Again, he has reiterated his ambition to join the select number of legends that have excelled in the iconic shirt for the Red Devils.
“And it is so nice for me to wear the No.7 shirt. It was worn by some of the greatest players in the club’s history and I do know that it is a huge thing for all Man United fans."
“I think people here are happy with me. So I must honour this shirt. I must confess that I had all these expectations – but Man U have exceeded my expectations. It has all been perfect for me so far.”
Di Maria has made a great impact at his new club and already he has notched three goals and four assists, in just six appearances. The £60million signing has settled in well in the Premier League and his incredible form looks set to continue.
