Chelsea morning news: Terry on why fans still love him; Hazard on Mata

All the latest news and gossip from Stamford Bridge this morning.

John Terry made his 500th appearance as Chelsea captain last weekend in a victory over Crystal Palace and will lead Chelsea out for the 13th time as captain against Manchester United later today.

The former England captain has been speaking about his captaincy at his beloved Chelsea to the club's official website this weekend.

In particular he spoke about what keeps him in the Chelsea first-team and keeps the fans on his side - his hunger.

He said:

"I am still playing and still hungry for more and I think that comes back to why I still maintain my place in the team - because I am hungry.

"I think that is why I’ve had a good rapport with the fans over the years because regardless of performances - and it is impossible for any player to play well week in, week out - over the course of a season I would like to think the majority of my performances are up there and one thing the fans always get from me is 100 per cent.

"I demand that from people around me and rightly so because we are wearing the shirt with pride."

Terry will be hoping to earn another big win at the home of big rivals this afternoon.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been speaking about going up against his former team-mate Juan Mata in today's game. The Belgian playmaker even admitted he was sad to see him leave Chelsea in January:

“I was sad when Juan left because he was a good player. But at the end he was on the bench and he didn’t play a lot.

“When you’re a player, it’s normal you want to play, so I respect his choice – but I wanted him to stay here because it was a pleasure to play with him."
