Cellino should ‘get out of the club’ says Leeds legend

A Leeds United great has been speaking following the dismissal of another manager at Elland Road.

Former Leeds United player Johnny Giles has had his say on the situation at Elland Road in an interview with BBC Radio 5 live’s ‘Sportsweek’.

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino sacked head coach Darko Milanic on Saturday evening following the club’s 2-1 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, after the former Sturm Graz boss had failed to oversee a single victory since replacing caretaker boss Neil Redfearn last month.

Redfearn is now back in charge at the club – a decision that many Leeds fans feel should have been made following the academy boss’s outstanding stint in temporary charge following the dismissal of Dave Hockaday.

After Cellino’s latest decision, Giles said, “I think the best thing he could do is get out of the club and make way for a new owner who could work in the best interests of the fans.”

Few would disagree with the decision to give Redfearn the post on a permanent basis; but questions have to be asked as to some of the decisions Cellino has made in terms of managerial appointments and dismissals in recent times.

Whatever happens next, the simple fact is Redfearn needs time to get this club back on track and pushing for promotion.

They certainly have the players, the question is: Does Cellino have the patience?
