£30m Arsenal and Liverpool target ends six month goal drought with hat-trick

Gonzalo Higuain is back in full flow after recent struggles.

Last summer it was one of those transfer rumours that simply would not go away, but now Gonzalo Higuain is doing the rounds once again.

The Argentine striker began a war for his services when he announced he wanted to depart Real Madrid - and it looked as though Arsenal had their man.

But when Arsenal decided they actually wanted Liverpool star Luis Suarez, Napoli swooped in to take the striker to Serie A as a replacement for Edinson Cavani.

Now it is rumoured that both Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on is signature.

Higuain has struggled for form at Napoli this season, while he is also believed to be upset at the club's inability to qualify for the Champions League.

With Arsenal still lacking in striking options and Liverpool fans already sick of Mario Balotelli it is easy to see how one plus one might have made three.

Of course these rumours have been dismissed by the player, club and even his brother joined in with the denials last week.

However some Napoli fans would not have been to disappointed to see him go after recent performances.

But they might just be back on team Higuain after he finally netted a goal in Serie A this season. He scored in the 68th minute of Napoli's game against Hellas Verona in Serie A this evening - his first league goal of the campaign, his first since another hat-trick against Lazio in April.

And as many predicted, one one came the rest followed.

Higuain went on to score a further two goals to bag a hat-trick and get back into flying style with the Partenopei as Rafa Benitez's men won the game 6-2.
