West Ham 2-1 Manchester City - Sakho strikes again to prove the difference

Upton Park

West Ham United defeated Manchester City 2-1 at Upton Park on Saturday.

West Ham United pulled off the result of their season so far to defeat reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at Upton Park on Saturday.

Morgan Amilfitano scored the opener after 21 minutes and Diafra Sakho scored what proved to be the decisive second with just 15 minutes of normal-time remaining.

City pulled one back through David Silva when the Spanish international curled into the far corner in the 77th minute, but the Hammers held on for a famous win.

The three points means West Ham moved to within one point of City after nine games played, a truly remarkable statistic and one that proves just how well Sam Allardyce's summer signings have bedded in.
