Tottenham Hotspur duo Nabil Bentaleb and Eric Dier have been nominated for the Golden Boy award – a prize given to the best young player plying his trade in Europe.
40 players are nominated for the award and they are selected from journalists and renowned papers such as Italy’s Tuttomercato, Spain’s Marca and Germany’s Bild to determine the best player.
Nabil Bentaleb is one of those chosen after the midfielder showed promise during his breakout campaign last season under former boss Tim Sherwood.
The 19-year-old Algerian international made his first start for the club during the FA Cup third-round defeat to North London rivals Arsenal in the New Year.

As per the table provided by Opta stats, in 15 games last season Bentaleb performed well in midfield, showing an all-round side to his game by contributing well in many areas.
The next Spurs contender for the award is summer signing Eric Dier who arrived from Sporting Lisbon for a reported £4 million fee.
The centre-back has been a regular under new coach Mauricio Pochettino and has shown enough promise to warrant a place in the side.

In eight appearances for the White Hart Lane outfit, Dier has recorded 18 tackles and 25 effective clearances while committing just the one error leading to a shot.
The 20-year-old is rated at England U21 level and has every chance of going on to represent the full national team in the near future.
In a list of illustrious names to have won the Golden Boy award over the years, the last Premier League winner was controversial Italian striker Mario Balotelli in 2010.
