Tottenham Hotspur welcome Newcastle United to White Hart Lane on Sunday, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side likely to be confident following their impressive showing in the Europa League last week.
Harry Kane and Erik Lamela in particular are sure to be given another run-out following their five-goal haul against Asteras Tripolis, while Newcastle are simply desperate for the points that will help them climb up the table.
Alan Pardew’s side is currently 18th in the Premier League and it will not get any easier as this match against Tottenham is followed by a League Cup tie against Manchester City and a home game against Liverpool next weekend.
That said, Newcastle will take confidence from their 1-0 win against Leicester City last time out and Tottenham have proved they can ship a goal or two when the tide is against them.
Tottenham injury concerns: Kyle Naughton is a doubt with an ankle injury.
Tottenham absences: Nabil Bentaleb is out with an ankle injury, while Kyle Walker is still some way from a return. Federico Fazio is suspended following his red card last weekend.
Newcastle injury concerns: Mike Williamson and Cheick Tiote both have knocks but should recover to feature. Sammy Ameobi and Emmanuel Riviere have a 50 per cent chance of being fit for this match, while Papiss Cisse is recovering from a knee injury.
Newcastle absences: Rolando Aarons and Davide Santon are both out until November.
Predicted starting line-ups:
Tottenham – Lloris, Dier, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose, Capoue, Mason, Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Kane
Newcastle – Krul, Janmaat, Taylor, Coloccini, Dummett, Anita, Colback, Obertan, Sissoko, Gouffran, Cisse
