Tottenham Hotspur legend Osvaldo Ardiles has been singing the praises of Erik Lamela.
The Argentina international winger has been hitting the headlines over the past few days for scoring an outrageous goal against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on Thursday.
Lamela’s ‘rabona’ goal in the Group C clash at White Hart Lane has been widely hailed, and 1978 World Cup winner Ardiles believes that it was ‘special’.
Just back, saw @Coco_Lamela goal. Special goal from a special player. he is getting used much better to English pace. COYS— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) October 25, 2014
Former AS Roma star Lamela has been largely frustrating for Tottenham so far this season despite his wondergoal on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, who can also play in attacking midfield, is hugely talented and has loads of potential, but he has struggled to maintain consistency.
Confidence has also been an issue for Lamela, but hopefully for the Spurs fans, that truly genius goal on Thursday will enhance his self-conviction.
