Michael Owen comments on West Ham United’s win v Manchester City in Premier League

Michael Owen reflects on West Ham United’s 2-1 home win against Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has been singing the praises of West Ham United duo Alex Song and Enner Valencia.

Both players started the Premier League game against Manchester City at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday and proved key in the Hammers’ 2-1 win.

Midfielder Song won three tackles and as many interceptions, as he gave a good account of himself in defensive midfield. Meanwhile, forward Valencia provided the assist for West Ham’s opening goal against City with a cut-back to Morgan Amalfitano.

Owen was impressed with the West Ham duo and took to social networking site Twitter to hail them.

Song and Valenia both are summer signings for West Ham. While the former joined the London club from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal, the latter moved from Pachuca for a reported transfer of £12 million.

The 2-1 home win against City on Saturday sees West Ham remain fourth in the Premier League table with 16 points from nine matches, a point behind the Citizens.
