Manchester United latest: Redknapp predicts Chelsea game, ex-star on Fabregas preparation

All the latest news and views from Old Trafford...

Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes that Sunday’s Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea will end in a draw.

The Red Devils will host the Blues at Old Trafford in what promises to be a hugely intriguing and important game.

‘I’m predicting a draw – and I think that would suit both managers’, the former England international told Sky Sports. ‘Mourinho likes to tick these away games off without getting beaten and, without Costa, getting a point from Old Trafford will do for him’.

Redknapp also believes that the duel between Chelsea winger Eden Hazard and United full-back Rafael da Silva will be decisive.

‘He’s (Hazard) a sensational player and was stunning in the Champions League in midweek’, he said. 'If he plays on the left he’ll be up against Rafael, who always looks to me like he’s going to get sent off, give away a penalty or make a mistake. That’s going to be a key head-to-head in this game’.

Former United midfielder Park Ji-sung is also looking forward to Sunday’s showdown and has picked Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas as the man dangerman.

‘Fabregas knows the Premier League and knows about playing at Old Trafford as well’, the retired South Korea international wrote in the official matchday programme.

‘I think we need to be careful about that. We prepared well against him when he was at Arsenal but really we shouldn’t worry about the Chelsea players’ performance. We need to focus on our performance’.

One United player who is hoping to play some minutes against Chelsea is midfielder Michael Carrick.

The England international played for 64 minutes in the United Under-21s’ 2-1 victory over West Ham United on Friday.

Carrick was impressed with the performance of 21-year-old forward Will Keane and told MUTV: ‘In the second half, we dominated from the start really and got the goal. Keano deserved it as I thought he was terrific. He managed to get the winner so it was worth the trip’.
