Benfica player Jonas has hailed his new teammate and reported Arsenal target Anderson Talisca.
The latter has started the Primeira Liga campaign in blistering form, scoring six goals in his first seven matches and subsequently being linked with a possible move to the Emirates Stadium.
Such is the Brazilian’s emergence that Benfica are reportedly attempting to tie him down to a new contract already – this one with a €60million release-clause.
And while that may be considerably more than he is worth despite his impressive start to the season, there is no doubt that he will have got the attention of plenty of managers looking for potential new forwards in the months and years to come.
In quotes published by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Jonas – who himself was previously linked with a move to North London and Tottenham Hotspur – has hailed his young club-mate.
“He is a modern, tall player. He has great quality and strength,” Jonas said. “He drives the ball well and finishes well.”
“He has everything to play for many seasons and give lots of joy to Benfica fans.”
Arsenal are said to be keeping a very close eye on Talisca, with Arsene Wenger said to have sent an emissary to watch the player’s development with a view to potentially bringing him to the Gunners in the future.
But the secret is already out; Talisca is a star in the making and his form this season means he will no longer come cheap, if at all, with his current £18million release-clause surely existing for only so much longer.
