Newcastle United are reportedly interested in trying to sign CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia in January.
Doumbia has been in fine form over recent seasons, scoring 18 goals in 22 games in the Russian Premier League last campaign, and manager Alan Pardew sees him as a man who could add considerable threat to the side's frontline, according to TMW.
Newcastle will have funds to spend in January, according to reports, as they are determined to avoid relegation.
The Magpies are hoping to add quality to their squad to push them up the Premier League table and Doumbia is one of their targets. The Ivorian striker is one of CSKA's key players, but he is keen on playing in England where he should thrive.
Doumbia possesses the pace and the power to adapt to the tempo of the Premier League without any real problems and if he is to move to St. James' Park he would add considerable presence to their striking ranks.
At the moment Papiss Cisse looks their only real threat going forward, with Emmanuel Riviere struggling to find his feet since his summer transfer and another attacker would help the side out massively.
They are currently in the relegation zone after a terrible start to the campaign and only a huge up-turn in form will dig them out of the trouble which they have put themselves in.
