Manchester United star: Angel Di Maria is 'up there with the best'

Phil Jones has revealed what makes Angel Di Maria such a great player.

The forward has been the Red Devils standout performer this season following his transfer from Real Madrid.

The Argentine international has three goals and four assists in six games since his arrival at Old Trafford, and his performances have been the cause of much praise, with the 26-year-old single-handedly claiming results for United.

He will be lining up against Chelsea this weekend, as the Blues travel to Manchester looking to extend their lead in the Premier League title race over United’s city rivals to eight points, and he will be looking to make an impact against one of strongest teams in the division.

One man who believes he will have no trouble being a success against the current league leaders is current United central defender Phil Jones, who has praised the talents of the ‘fantastic footballer’.

Speaking to the official Red Devils website, the 22-year-old England international said: “He's up there with the best, he's a fantastic footballer.

“He's a quiet lad, he goes about his business quietly around the dressing room.

“But he's got everything - he's got the skill, the speed, the awareness, he can score goals... and you could see it the other night, the balls he delivers are wicked and hard to defend against. He's exactly what we need.”

Di Maria registered one assist during Monday night’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion, although he will be faced with the a tougher challenge on Sunday - with the Blues registering the second best defence in the Premier League. He may also suffer in the game due to his inability to perform defensive tasks, with the attacking talent that Chelsea posses likely to infiltrate and take advantage of the space he leaves behind him when probing forward.

However, the winger certainly has the talent to take the game to the Blues, and the Red Devils will be looking for their new superstar to make himself the difference in the key Premier League fixture.
