Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that both Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria will be available for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Spanish midfielder Herrera has a rib fracture but played against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Monday. In that same league match, winger Di Maria picked up an injury which many thought that could force him to miss the match against the Blues.
However, in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Van Gaal confirmed that both players are fit to feature against Chelsea.
Boss: "I'm sorry to say no others are back. Even if I let Carrick play for the reserves (tonight). He's been injured for five months." #mufc— Manchester United (@ManUtd) October 24, 2014
Chelsea have injury concerns of their own, with star striker Diego Costa believed to be struggling to regain his fitness for Sunday’s encounter.
However, Van Gaal believes that the Spain international will start against United.
‘He will play with him when he can because Jose wants to win’, said the Dutchman. He's scored nine goals in seven games – which is remarkable. So he's in good shape but he was ill so you never know’.
