How did Liverpool fans feel their future star performed against their fierce rivals?
With the trials and tribulations continuing over the performances of Italian striker Mario Balotelli Liverpool fans are looking for a saviour. In £10 million Divock Origi they hope to have found one.
The forward was signed in the summer after an impressive World Cup, but was loaned back to Lille for the season in order to push a deal through.
Now, with Balotelli misfiring and Daniel Sturridge's injury woes, many a Liverpool fan wanted to see Origi in action last night. There was no better way for him to make an impression than against local rivals Everton - as Lille hosted the Merseyside club in the Europa League last night.
The game ended 0-0 and for Origi it was a mixed performance.
He is undoubtedly full of potential.
Quick, strong and tricky he made Leighton Baines and Sylvain Distin look silly at times in the first-half.
He was certainly a live-wire but for all the good he did question marks remain. Phil Jagielka and Tony Hibbert dealt with him all game and his end product was aimless. In the second half he was anonymous - putting a dampener on his early promise.
Liverpool fan reaction was mixed. Many spoke of him like the second coming of the Messiah whilst others were as unimpressed with his performance as we were the Godzilla reboot.
That was certainly echoed on Twitter, with a real mixture of fan view on his performance.
But the important thing to remember is that Origi is still only 19-years-old and this showing certainly demonstrated that he has bags of potential to become a future Liverpool star...
It'd be wrong if Liverpool get Origi back early from Lille; young lad, just established in Lille's team. Can't ask him to solve 'crisis'.— John Chapman (@BelgoFoot) October 24, 2014
