Jamie Redknapp has identified two players who could be decisive in Sunday’s Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford.
‘If Diego Costa is going to be fit for Chelsea, then it gives them a distinct advantage in my opinion’, the former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder told Sky Sports. ‘If he plays, then I think he could be a huge difference... If he (Di Maria) doesn’t play, then that’s a huge loss to United’.
Interestingly, both Costa and Di Maria are struggling with injuries at the moment and are doubtful for Sunday’s fixture.
While Chelsea striker Costa is trying to overcome a groin problem and stomach bug, Di Maria is racing against time to get over a thigh injury.
Costa has been arguably the best striker in the Premier League so far this season, scoring nine goals and creating 11 chances in seven league appearances, while having a shot accuracy of 84% and a pass accuracy of 78%.
Meanwhile, Di Maria has been the standout player for United so far this campaign, scoring three goals and creating 18 chances in six league matches, while having a shot accuracy of 54% and a pass accuracy of 81%.
Neutral fans will hope that both Costa and Di Maria recover from their respective injuries for Sunday’s massive clash.
