Philippe Coutinho explains how he can help Liverpool improve on early season form

Coutinho Liverpool

The Brazilian has shown signs of becoming Liverpool's 'go-to' man in recent games.

Philippe Coutinho seems to the man prepared to take on the responsibility of creating chances for Liverpool as they look to kick-start their season.

The Brazilian admits the side hasn't found its best form this season as several new signings try to find their way in the team, but given the start Liverpool have had, they're just four points off second place, could feasibly qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League and are still in the League Cup.

Coutinho's form in the past couple of games, however, has been something of a brighter point, and looks as if he can be an integral part of the side this season.

In an interview with the Liverpool website, Coutinho explained his role and what he's trying to do to help Liverpool reach top form again.

"My role encompasses creating goal-scoring opportunities and scoring goals myself. Many people may see it as a task of higher responsibility. However, I've always been ready and prepared for it.

"We've been getting to know each other little by little. Each striker has their own style and training sessions help me understand how they prefer the ball to reach them. In my position, it's important that I create clear opportunities for them.

"I have to adapt my style to all strikers - as does any player who is in charge of playing in the No.10 role. We have to create open chances regardless of who the strikers are.

"The most important thing for me is that the team deliver and win games. We want to be performing well again soon and we must keep working hard to achieve that."

Coutinho was applauded off by Real Madrid fans at Anfield on Wednesday night after he gave the European Champions something to think about, following on from his crucial cameo role against Queens Park Rangers which resulted in Liverpool taking all three points in bizarre circumstances.

Now all eyes will be on the Brazilian to produce the goods for the Reds in the coming weeks, to see if the side can generate some momentum and get a more positive feel around the club.
