The latest round of UEFA Youth League games has taken place and it was a fairly positive week for English sides with only Arsenal failing to pick up a victory.
Here’s a brief run down of the action.
Anderlecht 4-3 Arsenal
Arsenal couldn’t get anything from their game against Anderlecht despite scoring three goals away from home. All three of Arsenal’s goals during the game came from Daniel Crowley who continues to impress in the Arsenal youth ranks in this side and in the under-21s.
Arsenal remain top of their group after three games with ten goals scored and five conceded.
Chelsea 2-0 Maribor
Chelsea were missing Dom Solanke for this game as he was with the senior side, but they didn’t show any signing of missing him. Jeremie Boga bagged a brace as the Blues stretched out a three point lead at the top of their group, conceding just one goal in the process.
CSKA Moscow 0-2 Manchester City
Manchester City were solid away from home in Russia in extremely difficult conditions. It was another case of one player scoring all of the goals with the brace coming from Jose Pozo. City also have a three point lead at the top of their group on nine points, one away from the mark which is normally enough for qualification in this sort of format.
Liverpool 3-2 Real Madrid
Liverpool’s under-19 side went one better than the senior team with an impressive win against their Spanish opponents. The goalscoring duties were shared out more for the young Reds with Cameron Brannagan, Tom Brewitt and highly rated Harry Wilson bagging the goals.
Liverpool join FC Basel and Real Madrid on six points though they have both conceded fewer goals in the competition so far.
