The American custodian made the declarations to Sport360.com when asked about his plans after retirement.
‘I have completed my licence so I may go into coaching or media work’, said the 43-year-old. ‘I have also had some offers to go on boards of clubs. I will still be involved in football’.
Friedel is a hugely respected figure in the footballing community and knows the game inside out. The fact that at 43 the former Liverpool star is still playing competitive football and going strong speaks volume about his character.
One of the few Americans to have made a genuine and long-lasting impact on English football, Friedel would indeed be a valuable member of the board of a club.
Friedel’s vast knowledge, experience of playing for top managers and prestige of featuring for big clubs all will help him in becoming a brilliant executive or a manager.
